Chad begins updating its digital legal framework

A 34-member committee was set up in April 2026 to propose legislation suited to new uses and technologies.

According to We Are Tech Africa, the Minister of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalisation of Administration set up a 34-member committee in N’Djamena on 27 April 2026 to modernise the legislation governing the digital sector. The committee had 45 days to submit its proposals.

Cloud computing, digital platforms and new uses heighten cybersecurity and data protection challenges. An updated legal framework gives organisations clear guidance for their hosting, data processing and system security projects.
